Seaton Beach

Location:
East Devon.
Description:
Seaton is a big seaside resort town in East Devon, with a large pebble beach which stretches east to Seaton Hole. There is easy access to Seaton beach and facilities are close to the beach. To the east of the town is Seaton harbour on the River Axe and east of the River Axe, the pebble beach extends for some distance east.
Safety:
Signs warn of strong under currents, deeply shelving beach and large breaking waves in storms. Also not to use inflatables when windy, not to swim in the river and warnings of unstable cliffs. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
There is a promenade along Seaton beach by the town and there is easy access from the promenade, via steps and slopes.
Dogs:
Dogs banned on Seaton Beach between May 1st to September 30th (between Castle Hill and River Axe).
Directions:
Seaton is approximately 24 miles from Exeter and 7 miles from Lyme Regis in Dorset. Take the A376 from Exeter. If bypassing Exeter on the M5 turn off onto the A376 (Junction 30, signposted to Exmouth). On the A376 at the roundabout at Clyst St Mary go straight across onto the A3052 (signposted to Sidmouth and Seaton) and continue on the A3052 through Newton Poppleford. About 11 miles east of Newton Poppleford turn right onto the B3176 (signposted to Seaton). Follow this road into Seaton. At a junction turn right (signposted to the Sea Front) and then take the next left and follow this road to the main car park. Alternatively if approaching from Dorset, take the A3052 from Lyme Regis. Just before the River Axe, turn left (signposted to Seaton) and follow this road through Axmouth and then across the bridge into Seaton.
