Elender Cove Beach

South Devon.
Description:
Elender Cove is a picturesque sandy cove surrounded by rocky scenery including the impressive jagged bulk of Gammon Head. Access to the beach is only by boat. There is also a smaller beach by Gammon Head called Maceley Cove, which can be accessed by foot.

There is a very steep path down to Elender Cove, but this has become unstable due to a cliff fall and is not safe to use.

Directions:
Elender Cove is about 1 mile from the Prawle Point car park, which is about 8 miles from Kingsbridge and about 28 miles from Plymouth. Take the A379 from Plymouth to Kingsbridge or alternatively take the A381 from Totnes to Kingsbridge. At Kingsbridge follow the A379 through Kingsbridge and out of Kingsbridge to the east. On the A379 at the village of Frogmore, turn right (signposted to East Prawle). Follow this road for about a mile and then turn left at a junction (again signposted to East Prawle). Continue on this road through the hamlet of Ford and then continue on this road for about a mile and then turn right at a junction. Continue on this road to East Prawle. At East Prawle drive through the village past the green and follow the lane out of the village west. This lane leads to the Prawle Point car park. From the car park, walk west past Prawle Point to Elender Cove.
