Dawlish Warren Beach

East Devon.
Description:
Dawlish Warren is a popular sandy beach which extends north for close to a mile to the mouth of the River Exe. Facilities are close to the beach. The Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve can also be visited.
Safety:
Signs warn of fast moving tides, submerged objects and not to use inflatables in offshore winds. Lifeguards in summer. See Beach Safety Guide.
Access:
Slipway suitable for wheel chairs to the main beach, there are also steps at various points along the sea front.
Dogs:
Dogs banned on the main beach from 1st April to 30th September up to groyne 3. Dogs allowed all year between groyne 4 and groyne 9. Dogs banned all year beyond groyne 9. Dogs are allowed in the nature reserve but on leads, maximum length 2m.
Directions:
Dawlish Warren is approximately 8 miles from Exeter. From Exeter take the A379 south. If approaching Exeter on the A38 or M5 there are turnings onto the A379 signposted to Dawlish. On the A379 follow the road south through Kenton and Starcross and continue on the A379 to Dawlish. Approaching Dawlish, turn left (signposted to Dawlish Warren) and follow this road to Dawlish Warren.
